Vote for local dancer in Shumka contest
Edwin Parr Composite student Brianne Popowich needs your votes in a contest called ‘Show us how you Shumka’. Voting ends on Feb. 22.
She had 1,246 votes at press time, and was in third place. There are fourteen other competitors, and if she wins, she will have the chance to perform live onstage with Shumka in their March performances of Shumka at 50 – The Touring Production.
A video has been uploaded to http://www.shumka.com/shumka-at-50/show-us-how-you-shumka/index.php and is available to take your vote.
Popowich is a member of the Athabasca Ukrainian Folk Dance Club, and has been for the past five years. She has been dancing for eight years, and started at a young age because of her parents. Her goal is to become a dance instructor.
Her mother said that Popowich attends Shumka camps every year, and is always sad when the dancing season is over.
