Athabasca is an incredible small town!

My husband and I (both former residents of Athabasca and its surrounding community) spent the Easter weekend visiting family and friends in Athabasca.

My husband and I (both former residents of Athabasca and its surrounding community) spent the Easter weekend visiting family and friends in Athabasca.

On Easter Saturday, my father and I took a drive around the town and stopped in at a number of the shops to browse and buy. We visited Elle's Closet (where the fashion is on point, and some of the lotions they carry are cheaper than in Edmonton!), Paddymelon's Gifts, Espresso and Eatery Shop (I had the BEST Americano ever - which says a lot for a coffee connoisseur), Penny's Headquarters, the health food store (they carry some hard-to-find gluten free products), the flower shop on Main Street (super friendly staff and carry nice flowers!), Boven's (where I have purchased some excellent home decor), Bubel's (they carry great workout gear), and the Liquor store for a bottle of wine, to name a few.

In reading Matt Allen's “Momentum builders ” article of March 28, 2017, it struck me that Athabasca embodies this very phrase. While I have only mentioned some of the retail in this letter, facilities such as the Multiplex, the University, are significant amenities that make the town attractive for families and future business! As a former resident, I think Athabasca has a lot to be proud of - the town has great people, a wide range of services and amenities. I applaud all of the momentum builders who have had a hand in building it. Well done Athabasca, I look forward to seeing what comes next. Best regards.
