Two men have been charged with possession of stolen property and flight from police after being arrested in Buffalo Lake Oct. 21 while driving a vehicle stolen from the Stony Plain area.

According to a Boyle RCMP media release, Cody Hardy of Lac La Biche and Daniel Arcand of Buffalo Lake, both in their mid 20s, were spotted in Grassland in the stolen Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle was reported missing the same day, around 1 p.m.

“Police located the vehicle in Buffalo Lake. It was spotted in Grassland (and) police weren’t able to catch up to it at that point, but then it was located in Buffalo Lake,” said Boyle Cst. Russell Stepanick.

Police did not initiate a pursuit due to public safety reasons, and the individuals were arrested in Buffalo Lake just before 3 p.m.

Hardy was charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of breaching a recognizance. Arcand was also charged with possession of stolen property, breach of property and two counts of breaching a recognizance.

The two men appeared in Boyle Provincial Court to speak to the charges Oct. 24.
