Two former tenants have been charged after an afternoon house fire on Athabascaís East Hill.

According to Athabasca RCMP officer Cpl. Joanna Patry, police charged 47-year-old Randy Boskoyous and 70-year-old Joseph Beaver with breaking and entering and mischief over $5,000 after the fire at 4002 45 St. on Jan. 15.

The owner of the property, who wished not to be named, verified that Boskoyous and Beaver both lived at the residence, but had moved out on Oct. 31, 2015.

Patry also said additional charges may be added after the RCMP consults with the Crown.

According to the RCMPís press release, the Athabasca Fire Department and Athabasca RCMP responded to the fire at around 3 p.m. on Jan. 15. The blaze was contained to a single structure and took several hours to extinguish. No one was injured during the incident.

The house was slated for demolition sometime between the end of January and March.

Boskoyous and Beaver were scheduled to appear in court Jan. 25, after press deadlines.
