The man charged with criminal negligence causing the death of a 46-year-old Red Deer man near Grassland last month was granted bail in Boyle Provincial Court July 13.
Aaron Christopher Gray, 24, from Didsbury, was released by Judge C.D. Gardner on $1,500 no cash bail.
On June 25, just before 7 a.m., police received a call about a body that had been discovered on Township Road 674, approximately 30 km north of Boyle.
Both the RCMP and EMS located the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Boyle RCMP, with the assistance of the K Division Criminal Collision Investigative Team (CCIT), St. Paul Identification Services, St. Paul Collision Analyst, St. Paul Police Dog Services and Edmonton Major Crimes, investigated the death and determined that the incident was directly related to an impaired driving investigation earlier that morning in the same rural area.
Police also determined through their investigation that the accused and deceased were known to each other and worked for the same business near Grassland.
Gray is charged with criminal negligence causing death, failing to remain at a collision, impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and failing to provide breath samples.
He will reappear in Boyle Provincial Court on July 27 for plea.
Gray must abstain from alcohol, have no contact with the deceased's family, seek employment and report to his probation officer. |
