A local will rock the Magnificent River Rats Festival stage this year.
On Saturday, June 29, Plamondon native Danita will make her return to the festival, having performed here over a decade ago. Since then she has grown as a person and a musician, and sheís eager to show everyone how.
ìI like to connect to the crowd. I enjoy seeing people happy and smiling. I do it for the audience, seeing people enjoying what I do and enjoying my music,î she said.
Danita spent a number of years living and working on a farm while she nursed her natural love for music. Coming from a musical family, she always had a passion for song, and worked hard to hone her own singing and songwriting talents.
ìItís been a passion since I was young,î she said. ìThe creative spark showed up and I decided to try my hand at it.î
In 2003 she released her debut album, Wild Ride. The 12 tracks on the record had a country sound, but she has moved in a more rocking direction in recent years.
ìItís a good feeling when someone appreciates what you write; when you create something that someone can relate to.î
With friends and fans in the area, Danita is looking forward to taking to the stage at the big event.
ìIím anxious to get back and see people I havenít seen in a long time,î he said. ìItís a great stage, a great festival. It warms my heart to know that people still remember me out there. Iím looking forward to it.î
