Former councillor to current council

I was reading the Dec.

I was reading the Dec. 19 edition of the Advocate and was disappointed to see that this town council – and more specifically, CAO Robert Jorgensen – saw fit to run down previous administrations, which include former members of council, without giving any examples.

Let me begin by saying that during my seven years on council our auditors have always stated that we were in a good financial position. That should be seen as a virtue and not critiqued by referring to past administrations as "band-aiding" things up.

If he wants to refer to the following as band-aiding things up without using examples, here are some examples of what past councils accomplished: a new scada system for the water treatment plant, new lining for the lagoons, new sewer realigning in town where needed, a new fire truck, a new vacuum truck and grader, just to name a few, all the while keeping the town in good financial shape. In addition to this, we paid off the Multiplex and committed funding to a new pool and weight room with the help of our County friends.

I also find it somewhat ironic that the Municipal Inspection, although it had suggested areas to improve upon, did not leave the impression that the Town was not getting it done.

Finally, running down past administrations is poor form in my respectful opinion. With administrators like Ryan Maier, Doug Topinka, and Melody Wolonsky, the town was in good hands. I do not recall any of them, or any former councillors for that matter, running down past councils and I would expect the same of this council going forward but perhaps that's just me.
