The Heartwood Folk Club has announced its fall lineup.

“We have a great season coming up,” said Heartwood organizer Peter Opryshko.

“Four out of the five (bands) are brand new. The last one, John Brooks was here seven or eight years ago.”

Christine Hanson, Bruce MacGregor, and Andy Hillhouse kick of the season on Sept. 13.

“The first (concert) is described as a musical tour of Scotland,” Opryshko explained.

They will explore the repertoire from the Scottish Baroque, driving Highland jigs and reels, to contemporary Scottish folk compositions.

That will be followed up by performances from Vishten on Oct. 2, Martin Kerr on Oct. 18, De Temps Antan on Nov. 16 and Jon Brooks wraps up the season on Nov. 29.

Season passes are $95 for adults or $85 for 18 and under or 65 and over. However, tickets for individual concerts will be $22 in advance, or $25 at the door.

“People of Athabasca support us, but as always we would like to have people buy season passes,” Explained Opryshko.

A perk of buying a season pass is reserved seating and convenience.

“If people have season passes, it saves them the trouble of trying to get a ticket,” he said. “People with season passes can reserve seats. All they have to do is indicate which seats they wish to have reserved, and they will have the same seats for every show.

The shows are spread out two weeks apart. Most of them are on weekends.

“There are times when I can control it, and other times I can’t. I try to get them on a weekend,” he said.
