Another draft of the Athabasca’s future pool will be put on display for the public’s eyes and for local input.

The pool design committee is holding their second open house on Dec. 1 from 5-8 p.m. at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.

Pool committee chair Rob Balay said the second open house will be similar to the one held in March, except a much more detailed blueprint for both the pool and the fitness facility will be available.

“It quite extensive right?” he said. “More so where it was a little bit more conceptual last time, making decision on six lane or eight lane.”

He added the open house will also have comparisons on operational costs now and potential future ones.

“It’ll sort of be, this is what the costs currently are, this is what the new costs are projected to be at the same level of service,” he said. “Then it’s apples to apples sort of thing.”

He said this will likely be the last time the public can address their concerns before the committee starts searching for a builder.

“That probably, I’m thinking, will be the last chance for public to have input where we can make some changes,” he said. “Because we’re going to be, pretty soon at the point where it will be going to tender.”
