Rachel Ramey named new ACAO

Chief administrative officer (CAO) Robert Jorgensen has promoted Rachel Ramey to assistant CAO after vetoing former interim CAO Doug Topinka’s decision to re-hire Melody Wolansky for the position.

Chief administrative officer (CAO) Robert Jorgensen has promoted Rachel Ramey to assistant CAO after vetoing former interim CAO Doug Topinka’s decision to re-hire Melody Wolansky for the position.

“I was reading through our policies and I do need someone that, if I’m away, that can handle things when I’m not here,” Jorgensen said. “Mainly, if I’m at meetings or if I do take holidays, we need someone that can handle the town in my absence.”

He said that when he previously decided not to hire an assistant CAO, chief financial officer Donna Anderson functioned as his assistant.

Anderson’s last official day working at the office was July 16.

Jorgensen said he hired Ramey after speaking about her with other town staff.

“She has numerous years of experience, knowledge of the town and she seemed to be a good fit,” he explained. “She’s very dedicated to the town. Very positive. There’s a positive energy about the lady.”

Ramey started working for the town in December 2005 and is the development officer.

She said she had thought about becoming an assistant CAO, but did not approach anyone about the position.

“It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to some changes in the office and moving forward in a positive manner,” she said.

Ramey will continue to be the development officer, with added responsibilities as the assistant CAO.

Jorgensen will also hire a new chief financial officer this month. He also said the budget allows him to fill both positions.
