Solar power a 'win win'

Solar energy is a "Win Win" concept! The power of the sun can reduce operating costs, save money and has no negatives in terms of the environment.

Solar energy is a "Win Win" concept!

The power of the sun can reduce operating costs, save money and has no negatives in terms of the environment.

Our provincial government offered financial incentives last spring to individuals, businesses, non-profits and municipalities to add this source of power to buildings in the communities.

The cost of solar panels has reduced considerably over the last couple of years and we don't need batteries unless we want to operate off grid totally. The sun power, not used by the owner on a given day flows out to the electrical grid and becomes a credit.

On cloudy days the grid covers off the electrical requirement.

The Solar Energy Society of Alberta website has photos of community facilities across the province that have taken advantage of this opportunity.

So, at municipal election forums across our community let's ask the question: "Are you in favour of installing solar panels on town and municipal buildings to reduce operating costs?"

It would be a "Win Win" for us all!
